It was a sunny, hot, and humid July 4th morning the day I picked those blueberries. I remember pulling into the parking lot, hurriedly looking at my watch, and giving myself one hour to pick as many blueberries as possible. I thought I was there to provide fruit for the winter for my family. But God had other plans!
I just love it when God shows up in unexpected ways to meet me where I’m at! I was struggling in my faith-based daily planner business with comparison, self doubt, and discouragement. That day was a day I will hold onto dearly. It felt like I was living in a modern day parable while picking berries. Everywhere I turned He had an analogy to share with me. He spoke to my heart with such intensity, and with patience illustrated so many life principles that were just what I needed to hear.
That day I gave myself an hour to pick berries because I knew that I needed to process them when I got home before going to a picnic. I was on a tight schedule. As I was driving home my heart was still in a posture of listening to what God might want to say. I had a lot on my plate at the time, and I felt life pulling me in different directions while leaving me unfocused, and unable to accomplish much. Then it hit me, just like I set realistic goals for picking berries, I needed to . . .
Bite-size truth #5: Set realistic goals for myself for the season of life I’m in. In other words, “Pick what you can process.”
Those words helped me chip away at the many personal and business related tasks at hand. And over what would be the next several months, slowly and steadily, my faith-based daily planner business continued to evolve as I followed His lead.
