How to Plan a Meaningful and Restful Vacation (Part 3)

Have you ever had a date with a special loved one, but when you got together you realized neither of you had a plan? You went around and around in circles asking the other what they wanted to do, only to waste hours of time in a quandary of nothingness. There is not much that is more frustrating to me than time wasted in indecision. Unless… It's indecision during vacation!

For some, that might not matter to them. They are more than okay to keep the vacation chill and with no agenda. If that’s you, that’s great! For others like myself, we are looking for a new adventure. We want to see all the sites we can and keep it relaxed. How?

Bite sized Tip #3: Carefully plan (ahead of time) activities and rest in a way that meets the needs of the group.

Yes, I like itineraries. I am not ashamed to admit it. But I don’t want every minute of every day planned either. There is a time for fun and adventure; and a time to rest. I would even argue, both are important on our vacations.

Carefully planning a vacation:

  1. Assures that all the details are in place in order to have a smooth vacation.
  2. Balances the interests, needs, and energy levels of those in the group.
  3. Allows time to sift through all the opportunities for adventure and pick the best ones based on the research done.
  4. Provides a plan so no big decisions or debates on what to do occurs! (Those already happened during the planning process.)
  5. Enables you to be in the present and experience something together. Creating a memory for a lifetime!

Maybe this all sounds great, but the thought of it overwhelms you. Where does one start? I would suggest we start with our relationships! Listen, our goal is to strengthen our family bonds or friendships, while we rest and reset.
